What Grows Best?
On the Plateau, plants that thrive are typically those that can handle cooler temperatures, higher rainfall, and shorter growing seasons. Hardy perennials, such as daylilies, hostas, and black-eyed Susans, do well. Native trees and shrubs like dogwoods, maples, and hydrangeas are also ideal for the region. Cool-season vegetables such as broccoli, kale, and spinach grow successfully, along with herbs like rosemary and thyme. Due to the climate, selecting plants that are drought-tolerant and cold-hardy is key for successful gardening on the Plateau
