Become A Master Gardener Volunteer!

The TN Master Gardener program is an opportunity to volunteer to assist others and is an exceptional way to improve the community and also a great way to learn more about plants and improve your gardening techniques.  

 

Volunteer Purpose

The purpose of the Master Gardener program is to train citizens as horticultural-educated volunteers of The University of Tennessee Extension and the Tennessee State Cooperative Extension Program. Volunteers work in partnership with their counties to expand the educational outreach by providing home gardeners with research-based information.

Volunteer Requirements

Attend the Training Class​

  • Classes are held every Tuesday from February through April.

  • Class times are 9:00- 12:00 CT

  • Location: UT-TSU Extension Office.

 

Complete Volunteer Hours

  • Contribute 40 hours of volunteer service to become certified.

 

Commit to Continued Involvement

  • Maintain status as a MG by volunteering and growing your skills each year​​​​

The cost for this educational training is $175 per person. We recommend paying online by clicking the "Payment" button below, or you can bring a check to the Cumberland County UT Extension office, where you will obtain the required application. The office will send you the application form with further details if you opt for online payment.
